What Are The Different Types Of Content You Can Produce?

There are 2 different types of video content you can create, evergreen and timed.  Today we are going to talk about what they both are when you should use each one. Short on time? Watch the YouTube video below. Prefer to take things at your own pace? Keep scrolling to keep reading.


It’s Not Easy Being Evergreen

So evergreen and timed content, first lets break down what they are.  Evergreen content is simply content that is always going to be relevant.  A few examples could be ‘How to fix a leaky tap’, unless the fundamental design of a tap changes then this video will always be relevant.  Another example could be demonstrations of your own products, as long as you keep selling that product then the video will remain relevant.


Timing Is Everything

On the end of the spectrum we have timed content.  This is content that has a very short shelf life (maybe a few days or a couple of months).  This can be anything from trending topics to news or special offers.  A good example could be if you are a leadership coach and a politician makes a huge blunder.  You could do a video on why what they did was negative and what they could of done differently to inspire confidence in their leadership.  This video may be good for a couple of weeks while the event stays in their mind but probably won’t mean much to someone coming to it a year down the line.


Time To Go Green

So when to use each of the different types of content.  The vast majority of your videos should be made up of evergreen content.  These videos will continue to produce results for you over the long term and grow your presence online naturally.  Timed content however is great for an instant boost in your viewership and can quickly bring you new fans and clients.


That’s A Wrap

So I would suggest planning all your regular content as evergreen but keep an eye on your industry news.  If something comes up that you can give your own take on, grab your camera and make a quick video to get your message out as quickly as possible.
